Happy Halloween, Everybody!

A big orange snake is coming at you from the alyssum bed!

This guy is always putting his nose into other pumpkin’s business.

If you really want to know how to carve a Halloween pumpkin you should just ask Ray Villafane. So Ithought rather than post a long drawn out saga of pumpkin carving this year I would just post some pictures of our pumpkins from a couple of years ago. I hope you get some inspiration to create your own.

Talking about inspiration, a friend sent me this message in an email and I thought it was cute so I’m sharing.
In case you didn't know...

The pumpkins are just amazing!! I really love how creative its become over the last few years--They are really like pieces of artwork and so cool and fun too!! I hope you've had a good weekend and a fun Halloween!

Thanks, Kim. Yeah, I remember when we were kids a long, long, long time ago that Halloween was just a night for us kids to go out and score some candy. Being out and wanderring around the neighbourhood after dark was just a bonus.

Now, at least from my point, Halloween has become almost the equal of Christmas on the decoration side. It's a lot more fun though.

I hope you enjoyed your Halloween night as much as I enjoyed mine!

Those pumpkins are works of art! Unfortunately around here our pumpkins usually end up getting smashed on the road - cities are like that:(
Oh, and by the way, I got that same email about the angel/witch, how about that!

Jane,

Pumpkin smashing happens out here in the country, too. One of our neighbours has a beautiful pumpkin patch every year and he sells them at the side of the road for a very reasonable $2. The week before Halloween someone stole a bunch and then drove down the road firing them at people's mailboxes. Dented a bunch and killed one, dead. Mindless violence and property damage is a sign of our highly advanced civilization I guess.

Halloween is not as big here in Australia, as it is in some other parts of the world. But this year I noticed Woolworths selling carving Pumpkins for $26, you can bet your sweet life nobody was firing them at letter boxes.

Love your carvings, a great blog

Beautiful pumpkins! Love the one with a vine for a nose. Mine are of the old fashioned - kitchen knife - all cuts must be straight variety! Triangles and squares used for eyes and nose are preferred.

Thanks for the nice compliments all. We did carve all those pumpkins but, obviously, not all in the same year. The Frankenstein one was adapted from a greeting card Hubby sent me but the rest were designed by us.
