Earworms

Just can’t get this song out of my head!

Our local CBC station was running a contest last week, something about Earworms, you know that type of song that you just have to hear or think of that then stays in your mind for the rest of the day. Like a worm that has wriggled into your ear and just won’t come out. I was really tempted to call in because I’ve had one in my head for a week now. I wimped out though because I would have had to sing a few lines and that wouldn’t have been pretty. Besides, I could just picture my co-workers finding out. They would have laughed me out of the plant or worse, they would have started playing pranks and believe me when I tell you that these guys are wicked and would show me no mercy just because I’m a girl! One day I’ll share some stories, but not today.

My Earworm is the theme song from “The Littlest Hobo”. Do you remember the show? It starred London, a German Shepherd, who travelled around from town to town rescuing stupid humans who had gotten themselves in trouble. We loved it when we were kids. We were watching the original series which aired from 1963 to 1965, according to Wikipedia.

The CTV network revived the series in the late 70’s to early 80’s and that’s where the version of the theme song that’s in my head came from.

Here’s a video from YouTube with the song if you want to hear it. I’m warning you now not to push that button!

If you went ahead and pushed it anyway, despite my dire warning, here are the lyrics as posted on the "Halifax Ukulele Gang (H.U.G.)" website.

Maybe Tomorrow – Terry Bush
The theme from “The Littlest Hobo” (1979)

[whistling intro]
There’s a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road is where I’ll always be
Every stop I make, I’ll make a new friend
Can’t stay for long, just turn around and I’m gone again.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
Down this road, that never seems to end,
Where new adventure, lies just around the bend.
So if you want to join me for a while
Just grab your hat, come travel light – that’s hobo style.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.
So if you want to join me for a while
Just grab your hat, come travel light – that’s hobo style.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
[Instrumental Bridge]
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
There’s a world, that’s waiting to unfold,
A brand new tale, no one has ever told,
We’ve journey’d far but, you know it won’t be long,
We’re almost there and we’ve paid our fare, with the hobo song.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on.
So if you want to join me for a while
Just grab your hat, come travel light – that’s hobo style.
Maybe tomorrow, I’ll find what I call home
Until tomorrow, you know I’m free to roam.

What’s a little Earworm amongst friends? Eh?

On another topic completely, I think I have found the longest icicle ever here on the Witch’s Island.

 Now that’s a big icicle!
Now that’s a big icicle!

You wouldn’t want to be underneath that one if it let go!

And just before I sign off I thought I’d show you these two pictures of the beautiful sunrise we had last week. Hubby shot these while driving to work; I hope he was watching the road!

Someone called in about the Little Hobo theme song! And now, I've got it running through my head! Are you ready for the next storm?

Ah, Sam. Please say it ain't so. The last thing we need is more snow!

Sorry to hear that you have caught the Hobo Earworm. For the past week I've been pacing my lunchtime walk by how many "Hobo"s I can fit in. Hubby loaded it on my MP3 player last week and now that's just about all I listen to! It turns out that I can eat my lunch and still listen to Hobo 5 times before I have to get back to work!

I saw this in rerun over the Christmas break on a channel we got for free as a promo. Brought back a lot of memories as I used to love it as a kid (2nd version). It is a great song!!

Those sunrises are very beautiful!

stunning photos, my annoying song is "It's a Small World," that Disney song.....that may not be the correct title, and I am trying not to think about it, as the bloody tune will be running around my brain all day!!!

P.S. Never watched the Little Hobo, so thank goodness I don't know the tune!

Red sky in the morning, Sailor's warning. Red sky at night, Sailor's delight...
Beautiful pictures!

Sorry, could not heed your warning...oh rats...I watched that show regularly, mostly because our dog looked a lot like the littlest hobo, but a bit smaller:) Still miss that dog.
So then you must remember "danger, danger Will Robinson"!
Gorgeous sunrise photos - so your hubby takes photos too!
I love your posts - a real cornucopia of delights for the eye (and ear, but that one's debatable!!)
